At first, we were curious about the culture of ethnic minorities in Vietnam. After experiencing their cultures and listening to their stories, we gained a deeper understanding, an immense appreciation for the beauty of traditional crafts. However, authentic handmade products, the basis of ethnic people's livelihood, are gradually being replaced by mass produced ones.
In November 2017, we moved from Saigon to Hoi An and opened An Nhàn - Exquisite Cultural Gallery, with the aim to preserve and raise awareness of the disappearing art of Vietnam's ethnic minorities. We collect their handicrafts in order to provide them with a livelihood and introduce their crafts to the world.
An Nhàn - Exquisite Gallery is a 40-year-old stilt-house of the Tay minority. We moved the house from North-Central Vietnam to Hoi An in 2020 and started renovating in 2021.
An Nhan, meaning "leisure and peace", is more than just a gallery - it is a serene escape surrounded by a lush green garden. It is an invitation to slow down, enjoy a quiet moment and taste a rich cup of coffee, while engaging in conversation or simply unwinding to appreciate the present moment.
At our gallery, not only will you learn about the crafts or artworks, but also about the life, the cultures and stories of ethnic minorities in Vietnam.
Our artifacts are handcrafted by ethnic minority artisans with love and passion. They also contain the drive of artisans in preserving the beauty of craft through generations.
Unlike in a museum, the handcrafted pottery, textiles, and wood sculptures here are not just for display—they are meant to be part of your journey. Each piece tells a story, one that deserves to be shared and carried forward. By purchasing these crafts, you not only support skilled artisans but also help preserve traditional techniques for future generations.
